About to be a Newbee and Scared To Death

by Ronna
(Wyoming)

Hello. My husband is about to be an over the road driver. We are relatively newlyweds (2 years in July) between us we have six kids, three of which will be home with me.

The uncertainty of what is to come and the decisions yet to be made have me terrified. I don't even know where to begin.

What about the boat, four wheelers & other toys that we used together?

Do I continue to work full time and risk not being able to spend time with him home?

Will I lose my sanity if I quit my job since the only people I know here are from work?

How will the kids react?

I'm sorry for rambling. Just hoping someone might have some insight for me.

Ronna

Just concentrate on the kids NEW
by: Jeni

Hi, My name is Jeni. My hubby has been a OTR for 2 years now. Sometimes it is really hard not having him here but with the economy I guess we are lucky he even has a job. Im at home with a 16 year old son, we have mom and son date days were we go do things together. Like the drive in movies or go bowling. I thru myself into cleaning my house and trying to get as much done so when my hubby comes for for those 3 precious days we can enjoy our time and not have to worry about shopping for the truck or laundry. He does his laundry before he comes home at the yard a few days ahead. Invest in a good cell phone and a great cell phone company and use up all those free minutes daily. Send lots of pictures and I always tell hime I am proud of him. You have to hold down the fort and keep things running smooth but have fun too.

You'll be Just Fine NEW
by: Rae-Dawn Brightman

I'm new to the trucking industry too, working for a factoring company and the one thing I can say with complete honesty is -- you will find the support you need in this industry. Blogging and reading many articles, I have found this to be a very tight community and for the most part, everyone has your back. Hope everything works out for you and your husband. 6 kids are hard to raise not matter what your profession is.
