accident with injuries 3 years later

by tony
(Florida)

Hello,

Over three years ago I received an accident with injuries as a new driver up North. I wasn't fired and continued to drive for them for another year but then quit.

Three years later after accident I'd like to drive again. I applied for Heartland and they said on application no accidents within last three years. Will companies hire me?

Thanks,
Tony

Getting a trucking job with an accident on your record
by: Hervy

Tony 3 years is a good number for hope. Although 5 would better much better.

It's hard to predict what you will find but I think there are a few companies that might take you on. However, you will have to start from scratch being out for that long.

The only way to know what you will find is to keep applying. Call out them first and ask will they hire you with that on your record.

Also check with smaller and medium sized trucking companies that may be in your area. Read this page

Don't be surprised though if they want you to go to truck driving school again. You might be able to go to a refresher course instead of an entire program.

Check your local community college to see if they have truck driver training if you find that you have to go through school again.

Make sure you have a commitment to hire though if the only reason that you are going to the trucking school again is for that specific job.

Best of luck and keep your head up.
