Burritos: Nutritious Breakfast for a Busy Trucker

Burritos are ideal as the main food on the road. Why? You can eat it with one hand. Moreover, you can add many nutritious items inside and eat them all at once.

Eating-on-the-go can be dreary if you only have burgers bought from fast food places to look forward to. Do yourself a favor and grab a nutritious burrito in the morning.

Classic Burrito With Eggs

The most conventional breakfast for a trucker includes scrambled eggs wrapped in bread. But this time, you can use the usual scrambled eggs as a filling for a flour tortilla. If you have leftovers lying around, you can add them to the eggs before you roll up everything in the tortilla.

Chili Burrito

Creating a chili hotdog is easy even if you don’t have buns. Just use the same flour tortilla to house three regular sized hotdogs, squirt some cheese on them and add leftover chili.

The flour tortilla may seem tougher than white bread buns, but they can hold more hotdog for a hungry trucker.

Pasta or Rice Burrito

One of the best things that can be done with warm tortilla is to create a portable boat for spaghetti. Spaghetti, or preferably linguini, noodles can be placed inside along with a thick sauce for an instant carb-on-carb meal if
you’ve been feeling sluggish because of the lack of carbohydrates in your diet.

Another idea is to incorporate rice, which is the usual burrito style in many Asian countries. Fried rice, already made more flavorful with leftover peas and carrots, can take the place of one full meal in a diner. Wrap it in flour tortilla and you’re good to go.

Healthy Bean Burritos

Beans are flavorful, especially when smothered in tomato sauce. Moreover, they can be a healthier alternative to rice because they contain more proteins than carbs.

Microwave a cup of pork and beans, or use the leftover beans inside your refrigerator, before pouring them in tortilla.

Vegetable and Fruit Burrito

Smart truckers know that they need vegetables and fruits to avoid constipation. Regular bowel movement is essential when you have a schedule to keep and you can’t really stop to relieve yourself while on the road. Incorporating vegetables and fruits in your diet can become a challenge, but you can do it with a simple method. Make two burritos, one for meat and carbs, and another for vegetables and fruits. This is a burly version of a veggie wrap, and it packs a lot of nutrients.

and hellonwheels.. youre an idiot. I realise youre actually a newb dispatcher or some brand new wet behind the ears swift driver but stfu.

Drivers do and Have to eat on the road. If your wheels arent moving youre not making money. And just pulling into a truck stop and leaving IMMEDIATELY takes 15 minutes.. much less even going inside (30 minutes.. time it).

If you can't control your truckwithout both hands on the wheel at all times.. get out before you kill someone. Im curious how do you turn on hte lights, adjust the jake, change radio station?

There are too many hateful nodriving noobs in trucks these days. Get rid of THEM and most of truckings problems would be solved.

Stop being critical
by: Anonymous

Why is it that drivers never have anything positive to say and the only person they believe is right is themselves? That same self righteous driver fussing about keeping both hands on the wheel at all times I guess never moves a hand to change stations on the radio, or talk on the cb, smoke a cigarette, scratch his ass, or whatever. He's probably just remembering what his instructors told him last week in cdl school.

Although your idea sounds like a great idea for a healthy way to eat while on the road. I do not think it is wise to take your one hand off the steering wheel to eat.

The rules are to drive with both hands on the steering wheel. It takes just one second to make a wrong move and Kapow your dead or victims will be!

Those rigs carry sometimes 80,000 lbs and serious repercussions could evolve from this risky type of driving!

Also eating while in a hurry has been studied and may cause some serious health risks, such as:

1.) Eating too fast is one of the major causes of indigestion.

2.) If you eat in hurry this process is lost and thus leads to further gastric problems and heartburn.

3.) Health risks of eating too fast: Overeating!! This is one of the biggest dangers of eating a meal on the run.

Now you might say, "well I am not eating in a hurry!" Well this would mean only one thing and that you would be taking your hands off the steering wheel to more often to finish your food the fact remains that even one time can be fatal!!

And is that even worth it?

Pull over and take a break while eating your healthy burritos and the plus side is you will have made 2 healthy choices.
