I been driving usa/canada for 13 yrs, I was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and prescribed insulin. The usa dot pulled my driving privileges, I can only drive in canada, this affects my career greatly, I hope these new us rules will be a bit more friendly towards diabetics, it is epidemic, a large majority of drivers are diabetics... society has to step up here and realise that this here is a real problem in north america!!!

That depends. Are you a type 1 or 2 diabetic? A type 2 diabetic can be qualified for one year at a time if on oral medications. A type 1 or 2 using insulin is a bit more difficult. You have to stable with your blood glucose levels at or below 126 every day and documented for one year. There are new laws for DOT physicals coming out so this May change. It is best to check with a physician that dose DOT physicals.
