What protects a driver from retaliation from your current employer when they are contacted for your background check information?

Response: (This is my understanding, wouldn't bet my paycheck on it though. Probably some ifs, ands and buts missing from my thoughts)

If they are telling the truth, not much you can do. If they are lying it's defamation of character. A lawyer would be happy to speak to you.
