Ex Driver seeking a job

I have over 15 years of experience OTR. I have driven for May Trucking, Arnold Transportation, Crete Carrier, JB Hunt. In 2008 i went into the Oil and Gas field. Now that has all dried up, I want to go back over the road. With that said, Please advise my option. I have a perfect driving record, I have a clean DAC.

My problem is, I am finding it very difficult to find a company that will hire me because I do not have at least 2 year of verifiable recent experience. Even with my 12+ years of OTR, they need at least two years of recent experience. My question for you is, should I just go buy a truck and obtain my own authority?

You do have options. Some carriers only ask for cdl A experience, which you have. Some carriers have a large window for consideration of OTR experience. I have seen 8-10 years. Will this get you the best opportunity for you; not sure, but it will get you back in the saddle to get your recent experience back up to par. Work with a recruiter who has exposure to multiple options.

My problem is, I am finding it very difficult to find a company that will hire me because I do not have at least 2 year of verifiable recent experience. Even with my 15+ years of OTR, they need at least two years of recent experience. My question for you is, should I just go buy a truck and obtain my own authority?
