Glasses Monitors Your Blinking To Detect Drowsiness
Some of you already have to drive with driver facing cameras. That's really too much for me. But how much is too much for you?
There's an article that came out in wired last week about AI, driver wearables and to help keep you from driving fatigued.
SmartCaps and headbands will be able to detect movement that indicates you are falling asleep and send a message to your manager and/or family. It can also flash bright lights in your eyes and send you a jolt to wake you up.
Wrist wearables will detect when you're falling asleep and send you a so called, "gentle shock" to wake you up!
There are glasses being developed that will monitor your blinking. They will develop an alertness score for you.
Then there is a headset that will monitor your head movements to assess if you're being distracted and also not checking your side mirrors regularly.
See machines will be monitoring your eyelids and head movement to determine if your tired, distracted or inattentive. If you look away from the road for too long it will send a video to your boss and vibrate your seat.
It was said by 'industry insiders' that these types of products are likely to become standard and mandatory in the near future. Not forced by government but by insurance underwriters.
Obviously there are benefits to safety with these types of products. However, the trade off is the feeling of intrusiveness and being micromanaged.
It seems like a lot of what actually drove many to life as a trucker will no longer be a part of trucking jobs.
What about you....
Would you be a truck driver under these conditions of being continuously monitored?
