Nervous Breakdown

It is so hard for me to be a truckers wife. I have been sick a lot the past 4 years. Right now I have a sinus infection shingles. And am having a nervous breakdown.

I have seen my husband a total of 2 and a half day's in the past 6 weeks. To top it all off my 16 year old son has talked about committing suicide. And 75 year old father is have some serious health issues.

Any advice?!?!?

Frustration
by: Hervy

Jenni, I can only imagine the frustration that you have been dealing with. The sinus and shingles could actually be a result of high level of stress or at least to a certain degree.

So my first piece of advice would be to study techniques for controlling your mental state. So things like meditation, breathing techniques, and mindfulness. For instance what percentage of your thoughts are about how miserable this situation is. Although, it might be true, its not good to focus on that part. What are the good things related to the situation?

Next piece of advice is make sure hubby is aware of your feelings. As I explain, don't nag or 'complain' uncontrollably but simply let him know what is going on. Some wives want to keep everything to herself for fear of making him feel unsupported or that you are complaining. Just think of a good way to present it. And remember why you are presenting it, it is presumably to save the marriage, relationships, etc.

Lastly, investigate what you can do to change the dynamics of the situation. Additional income so he can go local or regional or even come off of the road. And if nothing else at least switch companies to one that allows him to be home more regular.

Another thing is to find support groups in your area for trucker wives. Go on Facebook look up LAAT Wives and see if there are wives in your area.

I suggest you read these pages one is about stress and the other is about relationships.
