You can get heavy haul training from many of the trucking companies that offer heavy hauling services. They will most likely require that you have a few years of experience as a truck driver before becoming a heavy hauler. You will also need a great trucking record. Many of these jobs not only involve heavy or well oversized load but also going into sensitive areas to get or deliver them.
Therefor, your criminal background may also need to be clean for many of these training programs for heavy haulers. Especially since the company training in most cases will be the ones hiring you on afterwards when your ready.
There are also some heavy hauler schools that specialize in training to operate heavy equipment and/or haul heavy equipment.
If you can't find one closer to your area simply try at the major heavy haul carriers and see which one offers their own training that appeals to you best.
The one with a terminal closest to you and with the commitment to actually teach you the ropes rater than pushing you through be something for you to consider.
