How do you do the pre-trip inspection when the trailer is not hooked

WHAT I AM ASKING IS IF YOU APPROACH THE TRACTOR AND IT IS NOT HOOKED UP WHILE PERFORMING THE AIR BRAKE TEST DO YOU PUSH THE TRAILER AIR SUPPLY AND TRACTOR AIR SUPPLY KNOBS IN OR JUST THE TRACTOR AIR SUPPLY KNOB IN THEN CONTINUE PUMPING DOWN THE BRAKES TO 60 THEN 40 THANKS FOR ANY HELP ITS BEEN 10 YEARS SINCE I DID A PRE-TRIP

Just the yellow knob, tractor air. If you push the red, trailer, you'll lose your air. Jimmy
