Steps To Retiring Early From Trucking

This entertaining video teaches mindset and perspective

Let’s clear up a major misconception right away.

🚨 You’re NOT going to retire early by trucking more.  Not mathematically possible.  Sorry.

🚨 You’re going to retire early by building a business, product, or service that replaces your trucking income.

(That's investing.  Investing in you, learning and business.  Stocks, bonds, real estate is cool but you can't control any of those things.  Do them if you want, but this page focuses on something actually easier to win faster at to get more money to invest in those things)

The goal isn’t just to stop driving—it’s to create something valuable that earns money while you sleep. What This Video (and This Page) Are Really About

This video isn’t just informative—it’s demonstrative of a crucial practice.

As a truck driver, I’ve learned how to use AI to showcase a skill that’s in demand. That means I spent my free time as a trucker learning something that has value in the marketplace.

Now, I can take those skills and find problems to solve—and that’s the real key to retiring early.

🚨 I just summed up this entire page in one paragraph. 🚨
But there’s a lot implied in that statement.

To retire early, you must:
✔ Care about the problems others are experiencing.
✔ See those problems in order to care about them.
✔ Choose to spend your time learning.
✔ Train yourself to think creatively.
✔ Have discipline over your mind and behavior.

If you don’t develop these habits, you’ll stay in the cycle of working for money instead of making money work for you.

This page will break down each step, starting with the most important foundation of all—your mindset.

Let’s get into Step 1. 🚛💨

Step 1: Be a Compassionate Person

If you want to create a business, product, or service that will allow you to retire early, you need to develop compassion for other people.

There’s no way around it.

Well… okay, there is a way around it—entertainment.

If you plan on making money purely through entertainment, you don’t necessarily need compassion, just creativity. If that’s your path, you can skip straight to Step 2.

But if you want to change lives, solve real problems, and build something meaningful, then compassion is your foundation.

Why? Because the best businesses and most successful entrepreneurs thrive by deeply understanding people’s struggles, frustrations, and pain points. How to Build Compassion for Business Success

🔹 See the world through other people’s eyes. Stop looking at everything only from your own perspective.
🔹 Put your own experiences aside. Your situation isn’t everyone’s situation. Learn to listen to what others are going through.
🔹 Withhold judgment. When you hear stories of people struggling, don’t jump to conclusions. Instead, ask yourself, “What if this were me?”
🔹 Pay attention to patterns. The more you listen to people’s frustrations, the more you’ll notice common struggles—which leads us to Step 2.Step 2: Identify Problems

Now that you’re paying attention to what people are going through, you’ll start noticing problems everywhere.

Look at the people in:
✔ Your industry (trucking, business, entrepreneurship)
✔ Your hobbies (fitness, music, tech, AI, finance, etc.)
✔ Your personal life experiences (health, relationships, career challenges)

Where do you see pain points?

🔹 What are people constantly complaining about?
🔹 Who describes themselves as victims, and what do they feel stuck in?
🔹 What recurring issues do people face in their daily lives?

The reason I suggest looking at industries or topics you enjoy is because I want you to love what you do.

🚨 You don’t want to build a business just for the money.
🚨 You want to make money doing something you actually care about.

This is a core principle of life design—if you’re going to create a business, why not build it around something you love?

Once you start recognizing these pain points, you’ll be ready for Step 3.Step 3: Think of Ways to Solve Problems

Now that you:
✔ Have compassion and understand people’s struggles
✔ Can identify problems in the areas that interest you

It’s time to start brainstorming solutions. How to Find Your Business Idea

1️⃣ Make a list of all the problems you see—especially ones you personally understand.
2️⃣ Write down potential solutions for each of these problems.
3️⃣ Think about how to help people avoid these issues altogether.

🚨 This is where the magic happens. 🚨

Every successful business, product, or service exists because someone solved a problem.

🔹 Trucking apps? Solve logistics problems.
🔹 Amazon FBA? Solves product distribution issues.
🔹 Digital courses? Solve education gaps.

By focusing on solving a real problem, you’re setting yourself up for real success.

And now, you’re one step closer to retiring early.

👉 Step 4 is where things get real. Let’s go. 🚛💨

Step 4 Decide on a Group of Problems to Solve

The Million-Dollar Tip You Need to Hear

I’m about to give you a million-dollar tip, and I mean that literally. While I’ve successfully quit both trucking and the traditional 9-to-5 grind, there’s a reason I’m not rich yet—spreading myself too thin. The Biggest Mistake: Trying to Do Everything

If you want real success, you must decide which problem (or set of related problems) you want to solve.

Here’s what doesn’t work (trust me, I’ve tried it):
❌ Jumping from one idea to the next without traction.
❌ Creating multiple products/services and expecting them to magically take off.
❌ Trying to help everyone instead of focusing on a core group.

🚨 You need to focus on ONE thing, master it, and make it wildly successful before moving on to the next.

I’m doing okay, but I’ve made the mistake of trying to solve problems in trucking AND other industries at the same time. In doing so, I neglected the very people I started with—truckers.

There was a time when truckers recognized me at truck stops. (That used to spook me, but it was a sign of success.) Back then, I was consistently helping people decide if trucking was right for them and teaching them how to thrive in it. The proof?
✅ Positive feedback on my website.
✅ Engaging YouTube comments (LifeAsATrucker).
✅ Blogs with helpful discussions.

But then I retired early, went to school, and got distracted. Not only that, but I started 10+ websites and dove into learning tech and digital tools.

While that’s all great, the reality is: I spread myself too thin. Instead of being the go-to expert in one field, I was dividing my energy.

🚨 This is your warning—don’t make the same mistake. The Right Way to Build a Profitable BusinessStep 1: Choose Your Core Problem & Audience

Go back to your list of problems and solutions. Ask yourself:
🔹 Which group of people have related issues?
🔹 What product or service can you offer to help them?

Once you’ve identified that, figure out who will actually pay for it:
💰 Does your audience have money to spend?
💰 If not, who else would be willing to pay on their behalf?Step 2: Find Your True Customers (Example from My Journey)

I created Driver Success Kit, a career and personal development website for truckers. It was designed to help them with:
✔ Health
✔ Relationships
✔ Money management
✔ Success in trucking

Sounds valuable, right? Well, truckers and their spouses didn’t buy it.

Even though it was only $47, many truckers either didn’t have the expendable income or simply didn’t prioritize personal development.

Was the product bad? No. Was my marketing weak? Probably. But the real issue was that I didn’t target the right buyers.

👉 Instead of selling to truckers, I could have approached trucking companies with a different pitch:

🚛 "I can help you decrease driver turnover and improve driver satisfaction."

Instead of selling individual courses to truckers, I could:
✔ Sell licenses to trucking companies for all their employees.
✔ Offer driver training and speaking engagements.
✔ Get companies to buy in bulk and distribute to their drivers.

See the shift? The product didn’t change, but the marketing and buyer did.

Step 3: Choose the Most Profitable Opportunity

You might have passion for a certain problem, but if it doesn’t make money, it’s not a business—it’s a hobby.

🚨 Focus on what creates income FIRST so you can retire early.
🚨 Once you’re financially stable, then you can focus on passion projects.

👉 So now, choose the ONE problem or group of related problems you will solve.

Step 4: Craft Your Marketing Message

Now that you’ve identified:
✔ The problem you’re solving
✔ The people who will pay for it

You need to market it correctly.

🔹 Your message should speak directly to the buyer’s needs.
🔹 Focus on the benefits they’ll get, NOT just what you do.

💡 Example: My Trucking Business Approach
If I marketed my personal development product to truckers, I’d focus on:
✔ Better health
✔ Stronger relationships
✔ More income
✔ Less stress

BUT… if I marketed it to trucking companies, I’d say:
✔ Lower driver turnover
✔ More efficient, reliable drivers
✔ Higher company profits & happier employees

🚨 Who pays is who you market to.

If you’re a trucking company reading this, here’s some free advice:
💡 Be honest about what drivers can expect. Stop lying just to fill seats.
💡 Treat drivers like people with families, not just machines for profit.
💡 Offer personal development training to improve retention.

If you need help, I can provide coaching for your drivers.

Step 5: Create the Product or Service

How will you deliver your solution? The internet makes this easy:

✔ Build a website (I used CreateSpace 15 years ago; now it’s Amazon Kindle)

✔ Create digital products (courses, ebooks, coaching)
✔ Offer live online training (Zoom, webinars, consulting)
✔ Sell physical products (Amazon FBA, dropshipping, wholesale)
✔ Host in-person events (seminars, meetups, masterminds)

I’ve done Amazon FBA, Shopify, and even sold plastic belts to co-workers at a metal detector job. The key? Solve a real problem.

Step 6: Get Your Message to the Right Audience

The best advertising tools right now:

✔ Facebook Ads – Target by interests, job, age, location.
✔ Google Ads – Show up when people search for what you offer.
✔ YouTube Ads – Cheap and effective for video marketing.
✔ Instagram & TikTok – Growing platforms for viral reach.
✔ Live Streaming – Facebook Live, YouTube Live, IG Live boost engagement.

💡 Pro Tip: Video ads work best on Facebook.
🎥 Use HD video (16:9, 30fps) with a clear thumbnail and a strong description.

🚨 The biggest mistake you can make is trying to do everything at once.
🚨 Focus on ONE thing, dominate it, and THEN expand.
🚨 Success comes from solving problems, not chasing ideas.
