If I put a flat spot on two trailer tires do I pay for it?

I am a company driver for a small company. I pull a tanker hauling oil to make asphalt. Been with the company almost 4 years. No speeding tickets No accidents ever.

The other day when leaving the yard it was dark outside. I started rolling as usual. Everything felt good. It was a gravel lot about 100 yards long and then I turned onto the county road (blacktop).

Later after it became daylight and I was unloading. I realized I had drug two trailer tires ( for a short distance) and put 2 pretty good flat spots on two trailer tires. Now my boss says I need to pay for those two tires.

What do you think ?

I think you should ask them to show it to you in the documentation/paperwork that you are responsible for those damages.
