is it legal to travel with girlfriend and 7 year old child and sleep in truck

My friend drives a trailer truck. He has a new girlfriend and he is traveling with his girlfriend and her 7 year old son where all three are sleeping and living in trailer truck. Is it legal?

Yes it is legal. He pays a small weekly insurance fee to the company so they can be on the truck with him. He also has to follow all laws for seatbelts and booster seat in the front seat if the child at anytime rides in the passenger seat.
