I am a stay at home mom and wife to a wonderful trucker. Back in 2005 he was at a dead end job at a recycling job.
Him and his boss were loading a flat bed trailer and at the very end he was knocked off(12-15 feet). Broke his left leg and shattered his right ankle. We fought for 18 months to save his left leg.
In Aug. 2006 they had to amputate below the knee. His dr. said he would never work again. After 2 yrs of therapy he went to cdl training and obtained his class a cdl's. He has been driving a semi for 4 yrs now. I am so proud of him.
Yes at first it was very difficult with him being gone. But over the last couple years we have actually grown stronger and closer.
There are plenty of things he has missed due to him being gone but through pictures and phone calls he has been there in spirit and love.
We would not change a thing that has happened.
I want to say thank you to all the driver's out there. You are the real unsung hero's of the delivery industry.
I deal with my stress by talking to friends and family. Plus we have learned to tell each other everything regardless of what it is.
We speak our feelings, talk them out and move forward
