Loosing truckers license, can this person drive his car?

Dear Sirs/Ladies:

An acquaintance of mine had his truck license taken away in Tennessee - I think because of drinking.

Can he still drive his own car with a normal license.

Or alternatively could he reapply and acquire a normal drivers license for his car?
