Love and loss

by Lara
(Raleigh NC)

My husband has been driving for six months and he loves what he does. He recently had to move to contract operator with the company to get paid more but we are losing ground on our bills at home.

My job does not pay enough and his checks are not constant cause of variables in trucking. People tell me they make good money but we cannot get back on our feet since he lost his job eight months ago.

What is real? Do they make actually make 50k a year cause I'm not seeing it.

Contracter

Your husband should be making $60K - $70K as a company driver somewhere. Companies love to mislead drivers into become contractors or lease drivers because it's designed to make the driver pay the company bills.

The driver is led to believe he's an owner-operator, which he is NOT. Your husband should change companies ASAP so he can support his family.

Tyson Foods
Magnum Ltd.
Howard Transportation (flatbed) - Kenly,NC
Many Tyson Foods drivers make &60K per year and Magnum Ltd. drivers make more than $60K.

Depends on what his situation is
by: Hervy

With 6 months in he has limited options. I dont know what type if contract position he has or where. Most of them are set up to benefit the company. It is possible for it to look like $50,000 per year gross but after his expenses make less than he would as company and still end up owing in taxes.

He might consider looking for a higher paying company job
