Chelsea Love - Trucker
The first job that I remember wanting to have was to be a Trucker. At that point in my life at the wise age of 6, my best friend and I assumed that you had to be a male in order to go live life out on the road. So we started saving our money to buy our own trucks.
Years later when my husband started hauling reefer up and down the West Coast, I started thinking about maybe getting my licence.
After a couple more trips I decided to hang up my Real Estate Licence, and to Down Scale our Custom Blind Buisiness so that I could go trucking full time. After a month with my learners, I passed my test, and so started this amazing career.
I do believe that I am treated differently out on the road, but I don't think it is because I am a woman. My husband and I are truckers to the core. We embrace the whole lifestyle, and everything that it brings. Every place we go, truck plaza we stop at, coffee shop we sip at, people sense the happiness. Our positivity is contagious, and before you know it, everyone around us is smiling and enjoying life.
Smiles and genuine conversations every where we go has made us a pile of acquaintances, and learned the stories of so many unique individuals
This life is short, so you might as well do something that you enjoy.
Whats it like being a woman living a Trucker's life -
Well my friends, it's heaven on wheels :)
