Tips for women thinking of becoming a trucker

Hi my name is Vicky. I have been driving for three years. I love my job. I started 6 months after my husband died and I needed to make enough money to support myself. I was in school for nursing when he passed.

Ladies, if you are going to trucking school and have to go out with a male trainer, some can be real A-holes. Put on your big girl panties and suck it up. It is for a short time and then you're on your own.

Also use common sense don't put yourself in dangerous situations. Avoid walking in truckstops at night and don't walk between trucks. Stay in well lit areas.

There are many respectful male drivers but there are others who think female drivers are taking their jobs or are fair game.

Use your brain as well as your driving skills. Enjoy the beauty and the adventure.
