Truck Driver age requirements

I just saw a question from an 18 year old getting ready to attend driving school. Don't most companies want you to be 21+? I think if that's the case, the school should have told the student instead of taking his money knowing it will be hard to get on with a OTR company. Does any know the answer on age limits to start driving?

You can drive 'intrastate' at age 18, must be 21 to drive 'interstate'. But, most companies want you to be at least 23 to hire on. (insurance purposes). Jimmy
