Truck Instructor and driver

Driver/Instructor

My name is Nichole.

I'm a truck driving instructor at C R England for the last 2 and a half years! I have been a driver for going on 13 years and have seen the country from top to bottom from east to west!

I started out driving OTR for Arrow Trucking driving a flatbed pulling every kind of freight under the sun! I have been local for the last 6 years pulling dry van, transfer trailer, dump bucket, and containers!

My contribution to changing the image of drivers is to let people know that we don't all hang out in buffets at truckstops and trashing around!

I have 4 years of college under my belt but, I choose to teach and educate new drivers of the safety aspects, knowledge of the road, and to be a professional driver while out delivering the freight that EVERYBODY needs to survive!

I love the look on peoples faces when I tell them i'm a driver and they say " You don't look like a trucker shouldn't you be over weight and dirty?" I agree that some drivers really do need to work on their hygiene but most drivers are just out here to earn a HONEST living and to deliver the goods that make the USA go around!!

Next time you get mad at that driver trying to turn a 73 foot truck and their in your way, or your mad because that driver is going to slow from a stop, or you put NO TRUCK PARKING up cause your scared of your landscape, just remember if it weren't for trucks, the USA WOULD STOP!!
Thank you ;-}

Hi, Nichole! It's not easy to be a truck driving instructor, but you seem to have it figured out! What advice would you have for novice truck drivers who want to prepare to work for http://www.landstar.com/ ? Also, could you please write a list of the 10 most common mistakes beginner truck drivers tend to do, and how to avoid them?

Ladies Train Truckers Too
by: Hervy

Thanks for that great post Nicole. Good to let it be know that ladies train drivers too.

I think its always good to have educated drivers and especially instructors out here to bring extra academic tools and of course to blow the public's assumption of drivers not being very smart.

You are a great example of how diverse today's drivers are in their backgrounds and their reasoning for becoming truckers.

Happy trucking,
Hervy
