Should a company disclose the rate card NEW

If you are an owner operator leased on the the company they should provide documentation of what the load pays.

If you are an employee getting paid percentage, I don't know if they are legally obligated or not.

I agree with Jimmy about trucker pay

Keith as worked 4 different ways.

1.) 25% of gross of the truck, he made (this was only regionally) he averaged 700.00 a week

2.) 24% of NET- this really sucked! He was gone 5-6 days a week, and only made like 4-5 hundred a week.

3.) 25.5 % of Gross, this was over the road- Out 2 weeks home 2 days. He made between 900-1100 a week

4.) .40 cents a mile. We found that it was very close to the same as the 25.5 %. Only he may lose a little bit of money on a load by going by the mile, however, would pick it up on deadhead miles.

Getting Paid Percentage vs Mileage for Truckers

Hey Thomas, Jennifer explained it for you, but, as usual, I'll expand a little. You must be looking at flatbed or driving for an O/O. A lot of flatbed companies offer mileage pay or percentage pay. Most O/O's pay their drivers percentage. Most, but not all.

The advantage for the company and O/O to pay percentage is they do not pay for deadhead. With mileage pay, you are paid the same, loaded and empty. With percentage, you are getting a percentage of what the load pays, so if the load pays real good, that's good for you, but, if it pays lousy, that's not so good.

Also, percentage pay can be manipulated very easily to the company's favor. The difference is gross or net. In other words, do you get a percentage of the gross or net? If the truck grosses $1000 for the load, but the company pays for their overhead and then pays you a percentage of the net, you are missing out. Do you follow me?

I would recommend mileage pay if you have a choice. Just my opinion. Jimmy

My husband makes a percentage, He is paid 25.5% of freight. So if his company is paid 1000.00 for he load, my husband makes 255.00
