Trucking questions about driving record, criminal record and trucking

by Rick
(Tennesse)

Ok i got my driver's license back last year after paying off tickets in Arizona which was 10 years old. I have 1 misdermeanor for possesion of paraphenelia and the probation and paid every thing.

That was 2 years ago judge said it was supposed to be removed from my recored. To be on the safe side when i apply to trucking companies i will tell them about it. will this prevent me from getting a job as a cdl driver?

Be Honest
by: Bill

I am a Probation/Parole Officer trying to turn into a truck driver. I have supervised several truckers over the years, and I tell them, what I tell all my cases, BE HONEST and upfront.

Personally, from what I've seen here and other web sites, the drugs are gonna get ya. BTW, if the Court gave you an Suspended Imposition of Sentence (SIS), then when your time is up, it will go away. The arrest will not go away. It's like an old suitcase, you cant get rid of it.

Only one way to find out how trucking companies will react . . .
by: Hervy

Not much to say that these guys didn't say.

When you find out what's on your record Rick call some of the companies and tell them what's on your record and see what kind of feedback you get before filling out the application.

Then you will have a good idea of what to expect.
There is a lot of difference in company policies so don't just call a few.

Good luck,
please let us know how it turns out.

Hervy

One more thing if you need help getting your record straight you might want to check out companies like the one on this page about DAC Reports and Criminal Records

What should I do?
by: Jimmy

Access your file at the courthouse where you were convicted. Ask the county clerk for assistance. You may be able to get your file without hiring a lawyer. If the conviction is not on there and was removed, your in good shape. No need to disclose it on employment apps.

Do the same with your DMV record. Get a copy, see whats on there. Whatever is there, you must report on an app.

Some companies won't hire you with drug type offenses and traffic offenses. You just have to knock on doors and also be aware that the economy is in a slump and jobs aren't all that plentiful. Jimmy

Judgement Day
by: Anonymous

Seems the only time sins can forgiven is on judgment day! The world looks at DMV records, criminal records, employment history, credit history, as a way to determine a persons eligibility or ineligibility.

The bad thing is they hire people everyday with criminal history that is not on record but scrutinize the ones with minor blemishes that stain ones record for life! Who is judging who? I bet there are skeletons in their closet too!

There are some people I dont want to work for!

The lying dispatcher and/or broker. The boss man that cheats and lies on his wife, taxes, payroll, business associates, and employees! Some people or companies can't be trusted at all, but there aren't any good ways to determine this except through experience.

Good Luck!
