.. trucking companies want a current 3 year minimum driving history

In other words, if you had been driving for 35 years with a clean driving record and you took a break for a year or two, you could not get hired because you had not been driving CURRENTLY...

Seems pretty retarded to me, but that's the way it is here.

and remember: its not the trucking companies that are setting these rules. They would hire you just for being alive.

it's their insurance companies that are afraid of a pending payout (read "accident" or "liability")

Noredine, most trucking companies are going to want you to take a refresher course since you have been off of the road for so long. A lot of trucking school and some trucking companies offer refresher courses.
