If a truck driver retires are they forced to give up their cdl license?

If you retire, why would they make you give up your CDL? They wouldn't simply because they are going to make more off of a CDL than just a regular operators Lic. Not to mention, it is your privilege to have any Lic you wish. Just because you have it don't mean you have to use it.

My stepfather was diagnosed with COPD 17 years ago and is now on disability, he still carries his CDL. I know in Ohio yoyou can renew it when you renew your licence, so check with the local BMV to make sure
