what are the good trucking companies

My husband is going to start truck driving classes soon. I'm trying to help him research. What are the good trucking companies you can suggest to apply for after he gets CDL?

What is the average number of miles and how much is the pay drivers get?

Good for you Anon! check out the companies that drivers recommend at the bottom of this page.
driver recommended trucking companies.

To get the miles you would have to contact the company that you are researching and ask them directly.

Also you could visit http://www.glassdoor.com/index.htm to see if drivers have listed their pay.
