What is meant by the term "P & D Driver"?

I have heard and read job descriptions in the trucking industry mention "P & D" as a type of truck driver position. I was just wondering what it meant. Thank you

P/d mean pick up and delivery freight in the city

Yeah, pick up and delivery, local. You leave out from the dock in the AM loaded and get most of your deliveries done, then start picking up outbound freight as you work your way back to the dock. You will have to work around the freight in your trailer while doing so. Jimmy
