What is team driving like?

What is the pay like for team drivers? My husband and I are considering leaving our current careers to start team driving for a company.

He has trucked previously (but not for 10 years or so) and I have NEVER trucked (so, understandably I am a little hesitant not knowing what to expect :-).

Could you provide a sort of "A Week in the Life of a Female Team Driver" (only if you have insight to the female perspective, of course.) Thank you!

Not there as a CDL driver

I can tell you this. I have spent quite a bit of time in my husbands truck--outside of actually driving. What to expect--well there are a lot of long hours. Team drivers are expected to have the truck going 22 hours a day (actually driving) I do intend on doing this myself, and look forward to doing it. If you and your husband have a great relationship then go for it.

While one drives the other sleeps! I however, cannot parallel park a car--so of course my husband will be doing all of that lol/

But remember, if you argue, there is no where to hide, lol. I think it is great--here is something else to consider. The pay is almost double. You can use 1 pay to live, and the other to put away for retirement. You definitely have an advantage over most teams drivers--because marriage means a bigger bank account. You would not be splitting the pay, all going into the same kitty.

I think it is a wonderful idea, and one as a truckers wife, that I cannot wait to start to do with my own husband.

Husband and Wife Team Trucking
by: The Crazy Trucker

Hi,

If you and hubby get along well, driving together might be a fun and rewarding move for you.

Teams can make more money than 2 single drivers if both driver are doing their part of driving. It seems in your case though money would only be part of the benefit.

Your right, its only natural to be hesitant, but don't worry, give it a shot. Close quarters for that amount of time, isn't for every couple but it is only one way to find out if its suitable for you guys. Much better you try it out than to always wonder how it would have worked out.

A driver recommend Roehl as a good company. I see they have a sign on bonus for teams but I think it's probably for experienced drivers.

You should clear $75,000 your first year and $100,000 your second year as a team.

Hope this hel
