Will a major company hire you if you have 2 seatbelt tickets?

Please be brutal. I can take it. I got the seat belt tickets in my personal vehicle within the same year (2011), before I considered professional driving.

I have no criminal record, a 10-year work history, and no DUI's. I am also a female (35) who wants to ride with a male team mate, but I'm not sure if they allow that ...

Again, be brutal. It's better to know up front. I would like to start with Schneider b/c it's so close to my home in SC. Of course, that's only if they'll consider me. I may not eligible. I heard they're tough.

Thanks,
Red

For many companies they will probably be listen close to how you refer to these tickets. (Application comments and interview) If you say you were unlucky for instance, it shows not ownership and doesn't indicate if you now wear your seat belt.

If you mention how you not only learned to put your seat belt on to keep from getting a ticket, but you decided to read the literature and became convinced that it was a good idea, that would indicate a motivation to wear it which works and let's them know that you now wear your seat belt.

Will it keep you from getting a job at Schneider in particular? I Don't know, call them 1-800-447-7433
also try US Express 1 (866) 292 4538 they are in Jonesville SC and emphasizes the hiring of women.

seatbelt tickets NEW
by: Jessica Summers

Its like you read my mind! You seem to know a lot about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you could do with a few pics to drive the message home a bit, but other than that, this is excellent blog. A fantastic read. I will certainly be back.

Be Honest About Your Record
by: Anonymous

Red,
Failure to wear seat belt in a personal vehicle will be a concern to most employers. Failure to wear a seatbelt on a CMV carries with it more CSA points than any other "unsafe driving" infraction with the exception of speeding in a construction zone. I would express a genuine humility when explaining that to a potential employer and see if they will give you a chance. Most importantly be honest about your past accidents and tickets! Here is another blog that you might get some guidance from.

2 seat belt tickets

For smaller charges such as these (compared to felonies) how they will be perceived and handled by trucking companies will vary.

Will you be passed over by some? Definitely. Automatically? Not hardly.

In many cases, it might depend on your attitude about the tickets.

If they think you are probably going to end up getting another one, I am sure they will not hire you.

If they think that you have decided to change your habits about wearing the seat belt they will based their judgment on whether to hire you or not on something else.

To find out first hand what the response just call around to the companies that you are interested in and ask. You don't have to give them your personal information to do so.

Good Luck,
Hervy
